Telephonics Corporation awarded contract for Uljin Aerodrome in South Korea
FARMINGDALE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE:GFF), announced today that it has been awarded a contract valued at approximately $6 million for the Busan Regional Aviation Administration (BRAA). This contract will provide a terminal radar approach control system for Uljin that includes NRPL Group’s S-band Primary Surveillance Radar (PSR) and Telephonics’ Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR). This also includes a radar data extractor, monitoring and control system, antenna tower, radome, and all the external interfaces required to transmit the radar data from Uljin Airport to the Pohang Airport Approach Control Center. This winning solution provides Uljin an integrated radar system with a combined, co-mounted PSR/MSSR system that addresses BRAA’s operational requirements. The radar approach control system complies with International Civil Aviation Organization and Communication, Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management systems requirements and has a robust design that allows BRAA future expanding capability.
“The Telephonics, NRPL Group, and JooKwang teams bring the technology, experience, resources and, most of all, the commitment to deliver, install, and support a system that not only meets or exceeds BRAA’s expectations, but in many ways will allow for the insertion of new technology and added capabilities as the need arises for future applications.. “With fifty years experience designing, developing, and delivering surveillance IFF systems to customers throughout the world, we are uniquely qualified to understand and address the demanding challenges of controlling air traffic in this busy region efficiently, reliably, and safely,” said Mr. Joseph Battaglia, President and Chief Executive Officer of Telephonics Corporation.
