Telephonics Receives LATAM Airlines Group Contract for TruLink Intercommunications System
FARMINGDALE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE:GFF), announced today that it has a received a contract from LATAM Airlines Group for the TruLink® Wireless Intercommunications system to be used by pre-flight check crews at the Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago, Chile, one of LATAM Airlines Group’s main base of operations. This initial contract, for approximately 50 systems, marks the first time that TruLink will be used by commercial airline flight crews in South America.

TruLink’s built-in, ambient noise-reduction technology prevents the need for long cords, hand signals or wands, enabling LATAM Airlines Group’s crews to effectively communicate in high-noise environments, increasing the accuracy of team communications as well as safety. The system’s full-duplex, VOX-activated and waterproof features enhance the mobility of ground crews during aircraft inspection in all types of inclement weather, and increases their operational range to 2,500 ft. (800 m). In addition, TruLink’s 100 channels operate within the 2.4 GHz license-free band and with spread-spectrum, frequency-hopping protocol; the system does not interfere or impact LATAM Airlines Group’s frequency management.
“Telephonics is extremely pleased to reach this important milestone in the South American commercial airline market, while also increasing the efficiency, security and safety of LATAM pre-flight crews, as well as millions of travelers every year,” said Joseph J. Battaglia, President and Chief Executive Officer, Telephonics. “TruLink’s reliability and versatility makes it well suited for the fast-paced and environmentally impacted work of commercial flightline operations.”
